2 Guys branded labels

Purpose: #

Our 2 Guys with Knives branded labels is the foundation of our branding programs. In this topic we will explore all the facets this label program encompasses.

The Nitty Gritty: #

Let’s kick off with an explanation of what exactly a 2 Guys branded label is.

In short, these are our classic branded labels. Think of them as the launch pad of 2 Guys with Knives branding.

They are designed in 3 different sizes, exclusively featuring 2 Guys with Knives branding in our trademark black & green colour scheme.

We use these labels for:

  • All online menu items for consumer direct clients
  • All online menu items for select wholesale clients
  • All retail menu items for consumer direct clients
  • All special client menu dishes

These labels are a poly label material which has a shiny finish and can easily be removed from packaging, making it attractive for the consumer and easy to use in production. It repels water and has a very clean and sleek finish.

These labels MUST be printed using the wax-resin blend ribbon.

 

 

Shapes, Sizes & Function: #

Our 2 Guys with Knives branded labels come in 3 shapes and flavours (jk, just shapes!)  

1 1/2 x 5 3/8 Oval: Used for the following 2GWK branded items:

  • Wraps
  • Protein Loaves

 

2 1/2 x 8 7/8 Rectangular: Used for the following 2GWK branded items:

  • Entrees
  • Special Client Menu Entrees (more on special client entree labels later  

 

8.5 x 8.5 circle: Used for the following 2GWK branded items:

**SPECIAL RULE** 

Some items are better served cold and some are better served hot. 

The ones that are better served hot will have heating instructions on the bottom of the label and will look like this.

 

 

Items that are printed in this type of label are:

  • Macro Meals (Brazilian corner, paleo macros, keto macros and vegan macros)
  • Breakfasts that are better served warm (A star is born, Holla Balla, Keto a game, etc *ask the chef if any doubts about other breakfasts*)
  • Soups

The ones that are better served cold will have no heating instructions on the bottom of the label and will look like this.

 

 

Items that are printed in this type of label are:

  • Snack boxes
  • Breakfasts that are better served cold (Samurai warrior, Cheeky monkey, Java jump, etc *Ask the chef if any doubts arise regarding other breakfasts*)
  • Salads (Our clients will usually heat up the protein separately)
  • Desserts
  • Cookie bites
  • Protein balls

 

 

 

Consumer Direct vs Wholesale: #

When printing on our 2 Guys with Knives branded labels there are some specifics that must be adhered to based on meal program.

Consumer Direct Program:

In addition to the dish name, description & nutritional information, all of our meals for our consumer direct clients MUST HAVE a ‘Best Before Date’. But not to worry, the kitchen staff will take care of printing the best before tags and putting them on the food container lids (it doesn’t have to be printed on the label) 🙂

Wholesale Program:

Select wholesale accounts carry items from our 2 Guys with Knives branded weekly menu. The labels for these stores, in addition to the dish name, description & nutritional information MUST CONTAIN the specific barcode allocated for that item.

To recap, the difference between these 2 printing methods is:

  • Consumer Direct Meals CONTAIN a best before date but NO barcode
  • Wholesale Meals CONTAIN a barcode but NO best before date (it is stickered onto the container in production)

 

 

Locating Info for Labels: #

As you saw in the previous step, our pre-printed label templates arrive with a large section of white space in the centre.

This is where we print the following:

  • Dish Name
  • Dish Description
  • Dish Nutritional Information
  • Dish Best Before Date (consumer direct only)
  • Dish Barcode (wholesale only)

We frequently change aspects of our dishes so it is imperative that the item’s information is confirmed prior to printing, even if the printing template already exists for the item.

Locating this info is quick and easy using google drive. For dish name, description & nutritional info, follow these steps:

  • enter google drive
  • navigate to the current week’s sales folder
  • inside of the sales folder, select ‘Menu Info’
  • inside of ‘Menu Info,’ double click on ‘Web Menu’ to open. This document will contain the most recent version of the dish name, description & nutritional information.

 

 

Special Client Meal Labels: #

Each person’s nutritional needs are unique and we always strive to assist wherever possible.

There are times when a client’s dietary parameters don’t allow them to order from our regular menu, even with the customization options available online.

In these circumstances, Patrick creates a custom menu for the individual designed specifically for their needs. This can range widely from client to client.

Examples of a few custom menus that have been created are:

Dietary Regime Specific:

  • ADP
  • Whole30
  • Low FODMAP
  • HCG
  • Macrobiotic

Macro Specific:

  • meal plan based on overall daily calories allocated in specific volumes between proteins, fats & carbs
  • meal plan based on specific macros per dish

Health Specific:

  • heart health
  • surgery recovery
  • medically restricted conditions
  • allergy conditions

To locate the information needed for these specific labels, follow the following steps:

  • enter google drive
  • navigate to the current week’s sales folder
  • inside of the sales folder, select ‘Client Support’
  • inside of ‘Client Support,’ select “Special Menus’ and the specific client’s folder. In the example below, we will use Carla Van Messel’s menu

Copy & paste the information from the special menu (menu example shown above) into the label template in Bartender. Ensure the label is centred both horizontally and vertically. Then, proceed to print the labels based on the quantity listed.

Attach the printed labels with a paperclip to a printed copy of the special menu as shown in the image below.

Woo hoo, you did it!

 

Special Wrap Printing Rules: #

With every rule there is always an exception and for us that comes into play with our wrap program.

As you know, our service is a Gluten Free Service, however, gluten free and tortilla products do not always get along.  Gluten free tortillas are unfortunately subject to a high volume of breakage  

For this reason, we offer both a gluten free tortilla option for our clients with an aversion to gluten and a wheat tortilla option for our clients with no aversion to gluten. Now everyone can enjoy a happy wrap experience  

So how does this tie in with labels? I’m glad you asked! 

The wraps on our online menu have 2 different ingredient & nutritional information lists; one for the gluten free tortilla version and one for the glutinous wheat tortilla version as shown in the image below.

The wrap labels are then printed with the information allocated for each variation.

Some of our pre printed wrap label templates contain a ‘gluten free’ symbol as shown in the image below.

For wraps containing a wheat tortilla, a different wrap label will be used. Photo reference below.

Please note how the bottom of the label doesn’t include the gluten-free icon indicating that it is not gluten-free friendly.

 

 

Label Storage: #

Blank Labels:

Since all of the 2GWK branded labels are poly label products they will always be located on the white shelves to the left of the office (facing towards the window)

The top shelf will have the round labels with heating instructions to the left, the wheat tortilla wrap labels on the centre and the round labels without heating instructions to the right. On the shelf below, you will be able to find all the rectangular entree labels along with the resin wax ribbons.

Special client labels:

We usually keep the special clients’ labels to the left of the right side of the top shelves     Always keep this in mind when looking for the bin 🙂 You wanna play “There’s Waldo” not “Where’s Waldo” when you are in a hurry

 

 

BB&B Barcodes, barcodes & barcodes!: #

Now let’s dig into the barcodes  

As it has been mentioned before, barcodes are essential for our wholesale clients to process the transactions and to help them with their purchasing systems to order the best sellers. This is a reference list of all the barcodes used by 2GWK for our wholesale clients. They all come in UPC-A format.
