Image & Visual ID on Social Media #

Now that you have an Outline, it’s time to create & edit the images!

You can use any resource you want: a single image, a carousel, an animation or a video. The images can be single photos, composition, a collage. A catchy image or video will stand out in the social media’ timelines and bring us engagement, new followers and sales.

Ideal post image sizes:

  • Facebook: 1200 x 630 px
  • Instagram: 1080 x 1080 px (1:1 Ratio)
  • Instagram Story: 1080 x 1920 px
  • Twitter: 440 x 220 px (2:1 Ratio)

WHITE MARGIN:

To Create a cleaner aspect on our Instagram timeline, and more space to “breathe”, which results in improved visualization,  we create a white margin of 40px at the top and 40px at the bottom of the post.

COLORS

As several factors impact a person’s psychological and sensory experience with food, including texture, temperature and appearance. Studies have shown that color can influence the eating experience in multiple ways.

When eating or drinking, most people take in visual information first. They observe how the food looks in contrast to the surrounding plate or container and draw on years of experiences with similar foods before taking a bite — making assumptions about what the food will taste like and how satisfying it will be.

Whether consciously or unconsciously, color impacts the following psychological aspects of the eating experience and even if people want to eat it or not.

That’s why we take our colors on our Social Media very seriously, though always having lots of fun!

Lightroom Preset

On social media it’s important to have a Visual ID that makes your photos unique, with a synchronized aesthetic look.

This is why we apply the same Lightroom preset to each image which gives a subtle warm and happy vibe to our photos.

Of course, as each photo has a different light, you can adjust the preset settings in a way that makes the photo appear natural

with optimal colors & light.

This photo below contains the preset that we currently use. To save your time and make it easier, you can just “Copy” and “Paste” the preset settings of this pic where you want to apply the preset.

PRESET SETTINGS:

Exposure: +0,87

Contrast: -26

Highlights: -75

Shadows: +24

Whites: 0

Blacks: -21

Temp: +1

Tint: -10

Saturation: 0

How do you Copy this fab preset and Paste it on a new photo? It’s easy peasy 😉

1: Open the photo that contains the preset on Adobe Lightroom and click on the 3 points of your tools column on the right.

2: Click the 1st column option ” Copy edition settings”.

3: Open the photo where you want to paste the preset. Click on the 3 small points of your tools column on the right.

Then, click on the “Paste settings” option (3rd option).

Well done! 🙂 After pasting the preset settings, don’t forget to adjust this preset to suite the parameters of your image. This means potentially regulating the exposition & saturation slightly, and/or increasing or decreasing colour vibrance etc. so it matches the overall timeline aesthetic.

Ps: Feel free to create a new presest. Always ensure that the preset used highlights the food or subject with a vibrant but  natural look 😉

Verbiage #

Although the image or video is the first element to grab the user’s attention, the post verbiage also plays an important part in providing useful information and CTA (call to action).

The 2 Guys with Knives style is informal and humorous, so the use of slangs and local expressions are welcome!

We recommend the use of emojis, to emphasize the text or mark an important sentence.

A verbiage example of desserts:

TGIF dessert time? 🙌
With our deliciously guilt-free desserts, you can enjoy them anytime! 😈
Who’s craving a bite of that raw chocolate almond cookie dough brownie? Race you to it!

And of course, don’t forget the hashtags! This a list of our main #hashtags, but you can update or do more tailored to each post:

  • #2guyswithknives
  • #glutenfree
  • #mealprep
  • #fitfam
  • #fitnessnutrition
  • #healthyfood
  • #healthyfoodie
  • #healthyliving
